Scallop season will be considerably longer this year. If you have not made it to Steinhatchee to chase the scrumptious Scallop, you still have until September 25th. Although they get harder to find towards the end of the season, They are much larger. As of mid August, heavy rains have pushed the scallops deeper. They are very sensitive to water quality. Since they like clean saltwater, heavy fresh water flows from rivers and creeks push them to greater depths.
